2022 Season Schedules:
Frequently asked questions:
How do I know which class to register for?
All players who are new to First Tee - West Virginia begin in one of two levels based on their age:
- LITTLE GENERAL JUNIORS is the starting point for participants between 5 and 6 years old.
- Next is the PLAYer level, which is for those who are new to First Tee and are a minimum of 7 years old.
All participants, regardless of golf knowledge and experience, start at the PLAYer level. The reason for this is First Tee’s proprietary curriculum, called the Life Skills Experience, is not just about golf skills, but Core Values and Life Skills integrated with golf skills and knowledge.
What equipment does my child need?
If your child does have their own set of golf clubs, please put their name on each club and the bag and bring them to every class. If not, youth golf clubs will be provided. Golf tees, golf balls and all other learning equipment for all participants will be provided. New participants in the PLAYer level classes will be given a BAG TAG and YARDAGE BOOK. These two items should be brought to every class session while they are participating in the PLAYer level.
What should my child wear / bring to class?
Most players will be comfortable in athletic clothing, including tennis shoes or even rain boots on wet days. No sandals, flip-flops or open-toed shoes are allowed. We also suggest a hat or sunglasses during the summer months to protect their eyes from the sun along with sunscreen to protect their skin. A bottle of water is also welcome for them to drink for during breaks.
